The PSOE is the first force in vote estimates with 33.5%

Madrid, September 21, 2023. The Sociological Research Center has carried out the post-electoral study of the general elections of July 23 together with the September barometer, in which, in addition to the usual questions, the population is also asked about their decisions of vote. Regarding the estimated vote in the month of September, the PSOE is the first force with 33.5% of the votes and is 1.8 points ahead of the PP, which achieves 31.7%. Sumar is the third political force in vote estimation with 11.9%, followed by VOX with 11.1%.

Regarding the moment of decision-making about which party to vote for, 26% of voters have assured that they decided during the last week of the electoral campaign. 12.5% ​​decided it the first week, 15.9% during the last week of the campaign. 3.3% during the day of reflection and 6.8% on election day itself.

Furthermore, 18.6% say that from the beginning of the campaign until the day of the general elections they changed their mind on at least one occasion. Of those, 7.2% say they did it several times and 11.4% once. The respondent is also asked about the reason that led them to choose one party or another when voting, 25.1% stated that they did so due to ideological affinity, 13.3% due to the electoral program, 11.2% % for voting to punish the Government and 8% for voting against a party or bloc. And if they had known the result of the elections, 91% say they would have voted the same compared to 7.6% who would have changed their vote.

Preferences for President of the Government

37.8% of those surveyed who give their opinion prefer Pedro Sánchez as President of the Government, 11.4 points ahead of Feijóo, whom 26.4% prefer, with Yolanda Diaz in third position with 17, 6%.

Common questions

Regarding their personal economic situation, 69% of those surveyed rate it as “very good or good,” while 19.9% ​​say it is “very bad or bad.” Regarding the problems that most affect Spaniards personally, the economic crisis continues in first position with 39.8%, health in second place with 17.3%, and climate change climbs to third position with 14.9%.
