The Popular Party could lose the absolute majority in Galicia

- According to the CIS pre-election survey for the Galician elections, the Popular Party would obtain 43.2% of the votes, the BNG would be second force with 29.3% and the PSOE third with 20.4%.

The PP would be the party with the most votes with 43.2% of the votes and a seat range of 36 to 38, potentially losing the absolute majority in the Galician parliament. The BNG would be the second force with 29.3% (20-23 seats), the PSOE would remain in third position with 20.4% and could have 15 to 17 seats. SUMAR could be left out of the Galician parliament, with 3.5% of the votes and between 0 to 2 seats. Podemos and Vox would be left without parliamentary representation.
By provinces
In A Coruña: the PP would win 12 to 13 seats, the BNG 7 to 8, PSOE 5 to 6 and SUMAR could win one seat. In the province of Lugo the PP would obtain 8 to 9 seats, the BNG 3 and the PSOE 3 seats as well.
In Ourense, the PP would also be the first force with 7 seats, the BNG would achieve 2 to 4, the PSOE 2 and Democracia Ourensana could have one seat. And in Pontevedra, the PP would have 9 seats, the BNG 7 to 8, the PSOE 5 or 6 and SUMAR could obtain a seat.
Main problems
For those surveyed, the main problems in Galicia are unemployment (13.8%), along with health (10.3%), the economic crisis, economic problems (8.2%) and the government of the Xunta de Galicia with 5.5%.
Economic situation in Galicia
43.5% of those surveyed believe that the current economic situation in Galicia is “very good or good”, while 39.9% say it is “bad or very bad” and 14.2% average. Compared to 4 years ago, only 16% of Galicians say it is “better or much better”, 32.2% say it is “worse or much worse”, and 50% say it is the same.
69.9% of Galicians assure that they will vote on February 18 thinking about “the issues specific to Galicia”, and only 20.3% will do so thinking about “the general issues of Spain”.
Regarding the management that the PP has carried out at the head of the Xunta these last 4 years, 46.1% of Galicians indicate that it has been “bad or very bad”, 45.5% affirm that it has been “very good or good”, and 7.1% say it is fair.
Leaders
Ana Pontón, with an average of 5.77, is the most rated leader, followed by Alfonso Rueda, with a 5.39 and Xosé Ramón Gómez Besteiro, with a 4.84. For 38.1% of those surveyed, Alfonso Rueda is the preferred person to be president of the Xunta, followed by Ana Pontón (28.5%) and Xosé Ramón Gómez Besteiro (13%).
As for who Galicians prefer as president of the government of Spain at the moment, 36.9% choose Alberto Núñez Feijóo. 30% to Pedro Sánchez. 11.8% to Yolanda Díaz. And 2.8% to Santiago Abascal.
Undecided
29.8% of those surveyed decide which party or coalition they are going to vote for in the last week of the campaign, of which 5.1% decide on election day itself.
The survey was carried out from January 8 to 20, with a sample of 11,011 interviews spread across the four Galician provinces. These and more data are available to all media and interested people on the website of the Sociological Research Center (www.cis.es).
