Celebration of the V CIS Summer Seminar on Sociological and Political Research at Harvard University

The V CIS Summer Seminar on Sociological and Political Research , in collaboration with the Royal Complutense College associated with Harvard University, was held from September 3 to 9 and was inaugurated by the president of the CIS, Félix Requena.

The seminar is part of the CIS internationalization strategy that presents the socio-political and economic reality of Spain in the most influential forums and connects Spanish social science researchers with the most prestigious researchers in the academic world. This strategy develops the legal mandate to promote scientific collaboration with university and research centers for the training of researchers in the social sciences and the holding of courses and seminars.

In this context, the seminar was developed with extraordinary success and has constituted an essential intellectual debate forum for the knowledge of professors, postgraduate students and researchers of the most recent theoretical, methodological and research developments in the global sphere. of the social sciences.

The seminar has had the participation of prestigious academics from the main universities in the world : Harvard, Berkeley, Boston and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology such as Professor Stanley H. Brandes, specialist in comparative cultural studies and methodology; Emilio J. Castilla, expert in human resources management and quantitative research; Aranchu Castro, expert in health policies; Patricia Craig, dedicated to the study of political transitions, institutional reforms and political systems; Roberto M. Fernández, scholar of social networks and organizations; Michele Lamont, in sociology of cultures; Peter Hall, professor of political science and public policy and Sofía Pérez in comparative politics. This year, the seminar has been coordinated by Professor Jesús M. de Miguel from the University of Barcelona.
