His Majesty the King presents the National Sociology and Political Science Prize to Víctor Pérez Díaz

Madrid, 9th March 2015: Today, Monday 9th March at 12:00h in the Palacio de la Zarzuela (Zarzuela Palace), His Majesty the King presented the 2014 National Sociology and Political Science Prize to professor Víctor Peréz Díaz in recognition of his career of professional and academic excellence.

The event was attended by the Government Vice President and Minister of the Presidency, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría and the President of the CIS, Félix Requena Santos.

Víctor Pérez Díaz holds a doctorate in Sociology from Harvard University, and a doctorate in Law and Political Science from Complutense University of Madrid. Victor Pérez-Díaz (Madrid, 1938) has been professor of Sociology at Complutense University of Madrid since 1980. Over the last 50 years, Pérez-Díaz has earned academic and professional merits in the disciplines of sociology, political science and economics which accredit him as one of the leading figures in Spain in contemporary social sciences.

The Judges included president of the CIS, Félix Requena Santos, member of European Parliament and ex-president of the CIS, Pilar del Castillo, professor at the National University of Distance Education, Luis J. Garrido Medina, professor at the National University of Distance Education, Carmen González Enríquez, professor at the University of the Basque Country, Francisco J. Llera Ramo, professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, José Juan Toharia Cortés, and professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Cristobál Torres Albero.
